Couscous Omelette

Couscous is a type of semolina used in the north African cuisine. This dish combines couscous and egg to make a healthy and filling breakfast that can be prepared on the go.


  • Couscous – 1/2 cup
  • Onion chopped – 1/2 cup
  • Cumin – 1 spoon
  • Egg – 4
  • Chili powder – 1/2 spoon
  • Turmeric –  1 pinch
  • Oil – 2 spoons
  • Butter – 1 spoon
  • Salt to taste


  • Add chili powder,turmeric, salt and butter to the couscous and mix well, then add a half cup of boiling water to the mixture and keep it aside for the couscous to puff up
  • Add a spoon of oil to the pan and add cumin and chopped onions and saute until light brown.
  • Now mix the puffed up couscous with a fork, add the eggs, sauteed onions and beat well.
  • Add a spoon of oil to the pan, and add the beaten mixture and cook on low flame. After 5 mins turn it to the other side and cook well. Hot and tasty couscous omelette is ready to serve.
