Vegetable Oats punugulu/paniyaram

Oats serve as a healthy breakfast. Here is my twist on this healthy oats. This vegetable oats punugulu is very tasty and is packed with goodness of vegetables. It can be served with a simple chutney and can be had for breakfast or an evening snack.


  • Powdered oats – 2 cups
  • Curd – 1 cup
  • Corn flour – 2 spoons
  • Chopped onion – 1
  • Chopped ginger – 2 spoons
  • Chopped carrot – 1
  • Chopped cabbage – 1/4 cup
  • Chopped capsicum – 2 spoons
  • Cumin seeds – 1 spoon
  • Chili powder – 1 spoon
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 spoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil


  • Green chillies can be used instead of chili powder.


  • Mix all the above mentioned ingredients except oil in a bowl. The consistency should be little thicker than idli batter.
  • Now heat oil in a punugulu pan and add a spoon full of the batter in each hole. Turn the punugulu after it becomes golden brown on one side. Remove and serve hot after it is crispy on both sides.
